Research Professor Mike Jackson of the Institute for Rock Magnetism has been elected as a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union. He is also the 2015 recipient of the William Gilbert Award from AGU's Geomagnetism and Paleomagnetism section.
Emeritus Professor Calvin Alexander was recenlty named a Fellow of the Geological Society of America. Congratulations Calvin!
The Regents Professorship serves as the highest recognition for faculty who have made unique contributions to the quality of the University of Minnesota through exceptional accomplishments in teaching, research, and scholarship or creative work and contributions to the public good.
Congratulations to Professor Jake Bailey and his team on their new MN Futures Grant to study bacterial polyphosphate metabolism. This was only 1 of 2 grants awarded (out of 85 proposals submitted), and represents a new and interesting collaboration between the Bailey lab and colleagues in the School of Dentistry.
